Alan Cumming’s Reports on the 2016 Coach Walks

Spring is in the air and our coach walks programme gets underway in April. We start with a return to Avebury, walking along the Wessex Ridgeway and across the Marlborough Downs, and both the 6 and 10 mile walks end in Marlborough. In May, the coach will take us to Ross on Wye for a 10 mile walk to Goodrich Castle, described by English Heritage as the perfect medieval castle. After time for a tea or coffee in Ross, the coach will go to Goodrich Castle, from where the 5 ½ mile walk will start. To conclude the first half of the programme, we head east in June for a 6 and 10 mile walk along stretches of the Jurassic and Hereward Ways into the historic town of Stamford.

The second half sees us in Shropshire in July, at a location still to be finalised, followed in August by 5 and 10 mile walks in Gloucestershire, along the Wysis and Cotswold Ways. Finally, the programme draws to a close in September heading north for 5 and 10 mile walks in Derbyshire, near to Calke Abbey.

The charge for each trip is £12.50 and bookings can be made by contacting either Alan Cumming - tel. 01789 298061, email: alananjan50@gmail.com, or Roger Harrison, email: crogerharrison@aol.com. Payment for the April, May and June trips is requested in March and in June for the July, August and September trips.

Parking and pick-up will be from Bearley Village Hall at 8.30am with an expected return around 6.00pm.
