Aileen's Update - Jul to Sep 2026
Welcome to this Quarter's Footnotes, particularly if you have recently joined our group. With nearly 60 walks to choose from, there is hopefully something for everyone to enjoy.
I love walking by the sea, and recently the King inaugurated the King Charles III Coast Path which, when completed, will cover around 2700 miles and will be the longest, managed coastal path in the world. Stratford could not be much farther from the sea, but the recent holiday to St Ives included some lovely coastal path walking. We also tackle a more local (and shorter) long distance footpath each year, and we are well on with the Heart of England Way this year, reaching as far as Berkswell to-date.
Making the most of lighter summer evenings, we have some interesting early evening walks planned - the Fish and Chip walk, the Stratford Town Quiz Trail and an Upton House picnic. Do think about joining us.
Thank you to all volunteers within the group in whatever capacity you help - walk leading/co-ordinating, path maintenance, Facebook updates, website and administrative roles are all valuable contributions to the success of the group.
As I write, the May heatwave has ended, but in this quarter please be prepared for the weather conditions on the day and enjoy the views and company on the walks.
